Stainless Steel Passivation Chemicals

Passivation chemicals are used on stainless steel welds to reduce the corrosion and the appearance of discoloration. it removes free iron or any other unwanted contaminants and promotes the formation of a chromium-rich corrosion-resistant layer. Surface contaminants, including grease, dirt, iron, and other metallic particles are inherent to the metal fabrication process. During a steel passivation treatment, it reduces the chromium content of the surface metal, preventing the passive film from reforming naturally.
